Bluetooth is an advanced wireless standard used for transmitting information between mobile and fixed devices over long distances with UHF radio frequencies in the ISM band, from 2.412 to 2.481 GHz, and creating personal area networks within the range of Bluetooth devices. Originally, it was only meant as a radio alternative to RS-231 data cables, which transfer radio signals over long distances.
However, the advent of newer technology and the discovery of low-cost methods of communication made Bluetooth an attractive technology.
The latest Bluetooth devices are faster and more efficient than the ones used in the first days. Most newer phones and handheld computers may also be used with all Bluetooth enabled devices such as Bluetooth headsets, readers, and wireless mice. Moreover, the very low power consumption of Bluetooth devices makes it very environmentally friendly technology. With these benefits in mind, the adoption of Bluetooth technology by several industries has increased dramatically.
Apart from connecting wireless devices, Bluetooth may also be used to send data across the network. One example of this is the transfer of information from a notebook to a smartphone or vice versa. Another significant advantage of Bluetooth is that it allows a couple of devices to connect and share data to the exact same wireless system, thus allowing for multi-point connectivity. The biggest advantage of Bluetooth is that it may be implemented in a diverse selection of applications and can interconnect different gadgets.
A major disadvantage of using Bluetooth for connectivity is the slow speed of information transfer. As soon as a signal comes into the range of a Bluetooth enabled device, the device has to search for a willing host in the Wi-Fi or airwaves to find a compatible partner. In some cases, Bluetooth can find a compatible device, however, the speed of transfer is sub-par. While this does create a problem in some areas where there is no Wi-Fi, such as in vehicles, it' has to be noticed that this is only one of the rare disadvantages of Bluetooth that can be sorted out, which makes it more widely adopted than any other form of technology.
One of the most significant benefits of Bluetooth is that it can transfer large amounts of data with a high level of reliability and speed. Unlike wi-fi or wireless networks like those found in cellular phones, Bluetooth can guarantee secure connectivity that does not suffer from interference. Additionally, Bluetooth is commonly used in conjunction with other technologies, such as radio frequency identification (RFID), so the advantages of this technology could be applied to other places. These technologies include proximity cards, tag, code, sensor fusion, and biometrics.
These days, a lot of men and women can take advantage of the convenience provided by Bluetooth technology. Gadgets like laptops, mobile phones, handheld media players, gaming consoles, digital cameras, and televisions can be connected with each other via Bluetooth when they are in proximity to one another. Because it is relatively cheap to set up and very easy to use, this form of wireless technologies is set to continue expanding greatly.
